Hi there,
I've got a problem with my Creative SoundBlaster PCI 128.
I can only run 1 program at one time. For example if I listening to music wth xmms and then want to view a WebSite with a Flash-Animation,mozilla (or any other programm which wants to use the soundcard at the same time) hangs until I stop playing the music(then it continues work normally).
I'm using Kernel 2.4.17(it didn't with previouse kernels as well) and its modules es1371 and ac97_codec.

Which window manager/desktop environment are you using? KDE, for example, has a sound server that allows more than one program at once to access the sound device.

*umms*

the problem lies with the soundserver ...

You may well have the modules installed and configured .. but I suspect that you are using the default kernel modules for sound.... Few sound servers can multi-thread to the OSS modules... However there are sound servers that can do this...

ESD (Enlightened SoundDaemon) (Arts from kde) and others can sometimes manage to stack sounds

I'm using WindowMaker.
And the thing is, with my 2nd compuer with a SB Live (emu10k1) it works fine.
