I have a some Philips digital USB speakers that work in Windows but not in Linux. Any suggestions?

Um I' not positive but I think that you are out of luck. USB speakers use a software codec in windows to to transfer sound info to the usb bus and the speakers then translate these signals it analog to drive the speakers. But your processor have to do the decoding ala WINmodem. So unless someone can write a driver for linux I don't think it will work. If your M/B have onboard sound you might be able to get that to work, or just get ahold of a SoundBlaster 16 PNP. Or check the hardware compatability list for the distro that you have for soundcards that they support
