I've already gotten it installed, but I want to see your response on my system with linux, to see if everything 'should' be working and if it should work completely/to its fullest.

Here's the system:

AMD K6-2/350 @ 412.5 (75MHz FSB)
FIC VA-503+ 1MB
96MB 10ns PC66 SDRAM
16MB PCI Voodoo Banshee (Guillemot Maxi Gamer Phoenix)
20.5GB Quantum Fireball Plus LM
4.3GB Quantum Bigfoot (the huge 5.25" drive)
10X Pioneer CD-ROM
Sound Blaster 16 ISA PnP
3COM U.S. Robotics 56K internal ISA faxmodem
15" Optiquest V55 (the Q53 drivers works fine)
Logitech FirstMouse+ PS/2
Microsoft Natural Keyboard (not MS, but compatible)

I may be forgetting something, so if I am, please let me know and I'll list it. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Might have a problem with the modem.

Overclocking 66mhz memory might also be a problem. I would advise swapping the memory out for pc100. Running at a 100mhz bus should be a performance increase even if you do not overclock the processor.

Shad,

Note I said the motherboard is an FIC VA-503+. This board supports the ability to run PC66 SDRAM at 66MHz while clocking your frontside bus speed at 75 or any other MHz.

And another point... 100MHz FSB 'would' be faster than 75MHz FSB, for the CPU, but 75MHz FSB makes my system faster overall, as it is overclocking everything on the PCI bus, which includes my video card and hard drive. Normally the PCI bus runs at 33MHz, but now it is running at 37.5MHz. Some hard drives don't work well with this, but I have two Quantums both of which seem to work 100% with that setting and have been doing so for a very long time.

If any of my trouble is overclocking-related, it's because of the CPU (350 overclocked to 412.5 - it's a K6-2, known for not overclockig well).

The hardware howto (www.linuxdoc.org) has a pretty extensive list of hardware and how well it is supported.

OK now I have my modem working, but I can't get my video working right (I've done it before)... ARGH this is aggravating.

Oh yeah, I can connect, but I can't go anywhere or do anything, it just doesn't work... I'm guessing TCP/IP isn't properly installed or DNS isn't working or SOMETHING like that? Someone help me out...

I don't know about the overclock, although its pretty minimal. On my PIII600, i can go stable to 900mhz using windows, running the torture test 100% cpu utilization all nite. With linux, its more sensitive to ocing. I was only doing it 105mhz to get 630 using linux, and sometimes when I reboot my bios would lock up and tell me the cpu frequency is bad.

But with linux, you don't really need as much mhz as u do for windows, if you are running it for desktop purposes. So leaving it at its normal speed won't be so bad.
