I tryed to run the Mandrake install, and as soon as the install booted up my screen went all distorted as if I went into a resolution that my monitor could no handle in windows, it is hard to explain what it looked like, but it was not visible enough to make out what was on the screen. My monitor is an AcerView 34T uvga, 15inch, Please help me on this, because i really want to try mandrake.
thanks
Kevin

Fecal:
Sure wish you had a less offensive screen name.
Anyway, my guess is you have a VGA monitor.
So, reinstall from the MDK CD, but press F1 and type "vgalo" at the prompt. No quotes, of course.
Cheers,
Iceman

Hi Iceman,
I have a problem almost identical (almost...) I had posted in a differant area with my question, so here goes in this area...
My monitor would not be recognised even though I had listed it as a generic, doing 800x600 resolution (future power monitor). I have tried several installs and everytime, when selecting monitor, I select the 800x600 generic and then go through res. find from the pop-up box, then get a blue box warning of "over range". I am unable to get thru the entire install and get error warning after the prompt is entered in the console for "startX". It cannot find Xserver.
I've tried every single 800x600 gen. setting and nothing works so far. I too want to get 7.1 mandrake working. Any solutions? Thanks.

I may have a poxy monitor too , emm
why not try the third last option in the install , I think it might be interlaced 1024x768 or even if you want I don't know if it has the option svga @ 1024x768? You may want to check out if you graphics card is capable of 32bbp , could it be that you have a 24 bit card and are trying to run it @ 32b?
