Same Hardware, same memory, same Distro.

Would there be a noticable difference in speed between a PII350 and a PIII677.

They both say 686 when it boots up!

Yup. i686 referrs to the architecture/instruction set, whereas the clock speed is how fast it executes those instructions. You should see a nice boost from 350 to 666.

especially between a PII and a PIII. It's just, well, faster.

Is the boost in speed worth the frustration of trying to get around a Intel i810 Chipset?

I went from a PII-350 to a PIII-800 and its a hell of a lot faster :]
