i'm currently trying to install slackware onto a 486 /66 with 8 megs RAM.

i put a 1.6 gig HDD into my current slackware box and installed all the packages and kife onto the drive. theoreticaly, it should work.

it's now in the 486 and i'm going to try and work on it tonight, but when i was booting it last night, it gave my a floppy and HDD error..
i believe it was error code 40 and 80?

i can't get into the BIOS either!
the hum/scroll/caps lock keys flash on boot, but i press delete like a thousand times and it won't go in. (i also tried pressing just once.) i'm kinda weirded out without my keyboard, which i know works fine, because i use i use it with my slackware box

Ohe thing I've found is that if you pull the hdd out of one machine, you must make sure that the kernel is compiled for the new processor architecture of the machine you're putting it into. Also, with the BIOS, maybe <del> isn't the key to hit--- some manufacturers make it a different key... I'd try <F2>, even.

well, it pops up saying the DEL is the key to enter the BIOS.
and i used the bare.i kernel which i believe works with a 486...

it's not the booting part, it's in the BIOS.
