I did, however, have to initiate the installation process by using a generic serial port ( ps/2 would also work) for the gui install. It had no trouble detecting my mouse and installing it once I got to the mouse selection part of the install. Are you sure you have the usb-daemon installed and running? My mouse is invoked in my XF86config-4 file as follows: Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Mouse1" Driver "mouse" Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2" Option "Device" "/dev/usbmouse" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" justlinux.com
