I am having problems with a great deal of video flicker.

I used to have a voodoo3000 and it flickered.

I switched to a matrox mill 2 and it flickers.

It almost seems as though it flickers when the hd is running. but it's not. I dual boot and was noticing that win2k also flickered but much less. almost unnoticable.

does anyone have any suggestions?

What distro are you running? If you're running mandrake 8.0, get into the Mandrake Control center, Click on Hardware, and change your display settings. Also make sure to select your exact monitor. That seemed to reduce the flicker for me.

The same also holds true for Windows. I'm not exactly sure how to change it in Windows 2K, (I've done this in Windows 98, but it's been awhile) but the same principles pretty much hold true. If you can change the refresh rate of your video card in Windows, (anything above 75 hz...I have mine set to 85 hz), you'll hardly notice the flicker...if you notice it at all.

I've tried all of that. It's really noticeable. It's not the refresh rate.

I tightened the mobo and it kind of helped. When I push the power cable into the mobo it seems to stop.

I'm going to reinstall the mobo in the case.
