Hi all,

I have a new dell precision 420 at work and we need to install Rh 6.2 on the machines for the time being. Upon the install, I ran across a problem that I was hoping somewone else may have licked. The video card is the following: NVIDIA® GeForce2 GTS® 32MB DDR. Unfortunately this does not seem to be supported under the stock 6.2 install that I did. The best resolution that I can do is 640x480. Can anyone suggest any way to get this video card to work under 6.2?

Thanks for any input

ok..did some more research....6.2 came with X 3.3.6-20...According to the XFree86 site, support for the GeForce2 did not appear until 4.02 http://www.xfree86.org/4.0.2/Status22.html#22

The question now is, can i only upgrade the version of X that I have, or do I have to upgrade the machine all the way to 7.1?

thanks

Yes. You can only upgrade X to 4.0.2 only if you want as well as kernel and every other package. Download the RPM package and follow the NHF here.
