i have a p200 with a generic heatsink that cant clip on the proc, just has a lip and it rests on top of the proc. I want to set this box up as router in the closet, but i'm kinda worried about temps. my question: would it be better for me to put my comp sideways? that would make the fan fully rest on the proc with grav on its side. I have tried that momentarily, and the part of the case above the cpu got hot, there is almost no circulation. So what would be a better setting? i dont have the tools to mod the case, and all my fans are being used in my OCed case (p2 400@450, w00t! ;)

Slap some heat transfer compound between the sink and the processor, and you should be fine. About $2 for more than you could ever use at RadioHut.

Also, you may want to see if your mobo will support lm_sensors - most pentium and newer will. That way, you can actually check the temperature of the processor remotely.
