I'm currently trying to install RH7 on an old 486 with no CDROM drive. I have an external parallel port Backpack CDROM drive... I've used the drivers.img and the paride.img driver disks at the initial install, but neither seem to recognized the parallel cdrom drive. At one point I got the error: "Failed to insert PCD" ?? Anyway, has anyone successfuly installed RH 7 on a PC using an external CDROM drive? Please let me know the steps you took...

Make sure you create the install and MODULES diskettes to use for the install. The modules disk will probe for more hardware and perhaps detect the external CD.

Check the contents of your CD as the install and modules image files should be in the 'DOS' or similar directory along with a dos program called 'rawrite'. Just read the documentation in the directory. Very simple to do.
