i am downloading the Xfree86 version 4.0.2
So i can get my S3 Savage 4 to work with 3d support. Does anyone know of a how-to or help file, to get my card working the right way?
i need to make sure that i download all the packets i need.

i just want to get tuxracer and quake3 to work. ;)

I am very sure that you will just need the three files for XF86. just read the README files and the INSTALL files u shouldn't need anything else.

Check out the Kernel Howto. You will need to compile Kernel 2.4.2.

Ummmm.
Yes .. the Savage 4 S3 chip has a form of 3d support in X4.0.2 .. however it still isn't finished yet .. and it doesn't compare to the opengl implementation on winders.

get the updated driver file
or contemplate building X from CVS .. I still havent gone that route yet...
