Using RedHat 7.2 (updated via redcarpet) with the correct and latest drivers from Nvidia and the latest version of XFree86 as of today May 7, 2002.

Tried to update the Nvidia drives for a Palit Daytona TNT2 M64 agp video card due to poor video frame rate with the standard nv driver that comes with RedHat 7.2.

Cannot get the Xserver to run(fails on reboot). Have already followed the instructions in the REAME.txt file from Nvidia as to the specific configuration of the TNT cards. System is an AMD Athalon 1Ghz and I'm not experiancing any other problems at all, made the necessary changes to the /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file and tried both VRAM settings in the registry.c file as well, Any suggestions?

Followed the same basic instructions from Nvidia for my GeForece2 on another system (P4 1.8Ghz) and it worked just fine without changes to the source code.

Also could someone educate me on the command to stop/start/restart the Xserver from the command line so that I don't have to reboot to see if the new configuration will work?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Any error messages that could help to troubleshoot the problem?

You can use

startx

startkde (if you use KDE)

startx kde

ctrl-alt-backspace (to exist from X)

Please post the errors from startx.

At reboot it offers this little tidbit before prompting to run the XF configuration.

If you run lsmod as root does it show the nvidia module (nvdriver)? If not, use whereis to find it and try modprobing it. Then startx again.

I know I just answered the same question about the same error yesterday in one of the forums or am I going crazy.

&lt;insert comment here&gt;

Please do a forum search for 'no screens found' and you will find lots of previous posts on this very error and suggestions that will help.

It's just that 'No Screens Found' has been covered to death and searching the forums will find multiple suggestions you can try instead of me just giving you one.
