Being a new converted Linux user I am not sure if or how this can be done. I am using RH 7.0 and everything worked great except my modem and soundcard (which were integated on the same card). So I decided to upgrade my system with a Creative SoundBlaster Live card and a 3com 3cp5610A modem. I now have sound but the modem requires 2.3+ kernel to work. So I got the latest 2.4 kernel and compiled it. I now have everything but there are various errors that occur and almost all of my BASH commands are not working. I am not sure if I compiled and installed 2.4 correctly or not.
My question is this. Is there anyway to get my 3com modem mentioned above to work with the 2.2.16 kernel? Or is there a way to rip the driver from 2.4 and install it to 2.2.16? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am lost as to what to do.
Thanks in advance.
