How can I get my box to detect my ethernet card? I've tried Lothar, but it failed to find it.

By the way, a friend has burned copies of Mandrake 7.2 for me. I was thinking that maybe 7.2 is better at detecting hardware (I don't think that my card is an obscure one - it's a 3Com). Any thoughts on this?

I have a spare partition of about 9 Gigs that I was planning to use for Linux anyway, so I could conceivably load 7.2 there and have both varieties on my machine until I get 7.2 up to speed.

Thanks,

M

Okay, I tried to install the module for my nic by following the NHF.

The response I got was "device or resource busy."

I'm not sure what that means, but I went ahead and lsmod to see if it had been loaded, and it hadn't.

In my directory /net directory there are a bunch of modules, including 3c515.o, which is the one I need.

Any ideas anyone?

Oh, by the way. I'd like to be able to use this machine to connect to my ISP (dialup) and have this ethernet card be used to connect to another machine (running NT now, and Linux soon).

Thanks,

M
