Mandrake questions

couple of questions about Mandrake 8.2,
is it possible to recompile the mandrake kernel?
does anyone know if Mandrake 8.2 supports the M$ Intellimouse with the MSI K7T266 Pro2 motherboard, slackware doesn't seem to like the North/South-bridge setup do i'm looking at mandrake.

As far as I know, you'll need the source code from the Mandrake CD to recompile the kernel, so it is possible. I got the K7T266 Pro2, too, but I can't tell you about the intelli mouse cause I don't have one :).
Concerning the south brdige: I just installed Mandrake 8.2 and the Sound doesn't work. I think Mandrake misidentified the on-board soundcard and installed the wrong drivers. Can you confirm this?
