My Lexmark 3200 printer won't work. I've set mandrake 8.1 up with the right drivers and everything but there doens't seem to be any contact at all. Any tips?

Any tips? bdg1983 11-13-2001, 06:53 AM Since my distro (Caldera) always detects the printers I have and sets everything up correctly, I have little experience in manually configuring a printer. So.... I would suggest you try the Mandrake support site and also www.linuxprinting.org (http://www.linuxprinting.org) tansy 11-15-2001, 09:15 AM The 3200 although being a very good printer, is unfortunately a 'Win-Printer'. If memory serves, Lexmark will not release the code for the drivers. A few people have tried to back engineer drivers for it, and one is included in CUPS but it is buggy at best. It would save an enormous amount of frustration for you to pick up a printer that is known good in Linux (seems Canon and Epson are particularly well supported) justlinux.com
