AMD Thunderbird CPU, will it work?

I recently got a 1ghz AMD Tbird processor.. I was wondering if it would work with Slack 7.1 .

I'm 99.9% sure it will. It's based on the same architecture as Athlons and Pentiums, AFAIK, so it ought to work. Someone should back me up on this one.

Yep,the CPU works fine I set one up for a friend just a few days ago... He was using an Iwill IDE/RAID motherboard, the install went perfectly ( very fast too http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/wink.gif). The dist we used was slack 7.1 as well, and we didn't have a bit of trouble. Heh I think he was getting around 2300 something BogoMIPS I really need to upgrade my CPU!

What ide/raid mobo were you using? Did Slack 7.1 detect raid-hd automatically and without problems? Is Slack good comapred for example red hat?
