I am using Mandrake 7.2 on an AMD-K6-233 with a Guillemot Voodoo Banshee PCI Card. I installed the distro which claimed to support this video card both with 2D and 3D accleration out of the box. 2D server works fine but not the 3D server.

The problem seems to come from the tdfx.o kernel module. When I try to load it (modprobe tdfx), it fails on agpgart kernel module claiming that the device is busy or bad configured. I don't have any AGP bus, thus alright. I tried to compile the kernel without this agpgart module. No way, it does not work since tdfx seems to require agpgart to load.

What should I do ?

Don't know,

but I have a VoodooBanshee card too, and Mand7.2 recognized it fine and asked whether I wanted 3d accelleration or 2d. Both seem to work fine with X 4. What I do know is that you need the SVGA server to run the banshee. Suggest you run DrakConfig and reconfigure X, making sure it loads the SVGA server.

Good Luck

I gave up on my VooDoo Banshee and went over to ATI. I din't like the new XFree86 4.01 so I went here http://glide.xxedgexx.com/ to get some help. I also visited the 3DFX site to get there most recent server at http://linux.3dfx.com/. Hopefully these site will help you out.
