kyro 2 video card chipset

Hello everyone.I have a freind who is trying to install Mandrake 8.2.Everything will work except his video card.He has a hercules video card with a kyro 2 chipset.I was wondering if anyone knows how to get xwindows working with his chipset.I would appreciate any help.

I think the kyro's have linux drivers somewhere. Can't tell you where though because I don't use one. Do a google search.

The driver support docs at www.xfree86.org (http://www.xfree86.org) would be a good place to start.

I remember some time ago reading somewhere that the kyro2 was not supported by the version of X that was current at the time.

Hopefully that has changed and the kyro2 is supported by either X4.1 or X4.2.

Get your Kyro Drivers here (http://www.powervr.com/Downloads.asp).

It seems they are similiar to the nvidia drivers, in thier setup and license.

Hi I thanks everyone.But do i just skip configuring x windows until i get the drivers or is there some way to have x windows then install the drivers

And by the way if you get them installed and working let us know how they work. I've been asking all over the place for someone who has acually used these drivers to see what the performance is like.

HI! i'm french new user of linux!
So, i've got the same pb as you!
I've downloaded the rpm drivers for the mandrake8.2 , so it doesn't work anyway!!
For informations, when i want to start X, it tells me: NO DEVICE FOUND ON BUSID 1:5:0
i'm wondering where i'm wrong, or maybe it's the driver that is wrong!! *lol*
