I may have access to a Compaq DeskPro EP PII 450 MHz PC. I think this has the funky Compaq "BIOS on the Hard Drive." I've heard of people slapping Linux in systems that have worked... I have Mandrake 8.1 and may be up to the challenge.... or maybe not! :)

Thanks for any help!

I install Linux (Caldera) on Deskpro's at work and have never had a problem. Of course that's using Caldera so I can't say the same for Mandrake.

All I know is that everything always works for me except for the builtin soundcard (es1869) which I just need to add the module loading to /etc/modules.conf and then all is fine.

Thanks! This is the information I'll need. I'll give it a shot. Stay tuned!
