Hello Friends,

I have managed to successfully install Ubuntu 9.10 on my Toshiba satellite Pro laptop, there is absolutely no problem except that my sound card is busted.

I do not want to buy or repair the sound card. Is it possible to get a USB based device to which I could connect some external speakers??

If so what is this device called ??, also which make would be suitable for linux.

bye

and are you sure it's busted and just not working properly in Linux?

Yes I am pretty sure as the sound does not work in Windows as well.

Also since the laptop was never formatted after purchase I am sure the drivers installed are OK. I had the laptop checked from a free lance technician, and the guy said the sound chip in the mother board was busted, and that replacing the chip would be expensive.

When I first bought the laptop the sound was working very well, but after 2 years it stopped working.
