Hello all,

Does anyone know how to auto configure the kernel according to the hardware you have??

Like on modern PC to automatically disable ISA and all ISA devices.

Which kernel options to active/de-activate for new processors like AMD X2 6000+?

Hundreds of obsolete sounds cards that I don't want to manually de-selected.
ditto for LAN cards, IDE, SATA and etc.

Hundreds of other obsolete things.

These things just slow the kernel down and make the build time way longer than necessary.

There are over 2000+ modules and the average person needs less than 200.

I'm not sure if there is a preset command to do what you want, I did find this that may do what you want. Autoconfigure (http://sourceforge.net/projects/kautoconfigure/)

Yes, this tool express the general idea of what I want but it is so old I doubt it work on modern kernels. It was dated 2001 after all.

It generate a bunch of temp files, and stuff. However, my ".config" still has the orginal date and appears to be unmodified.

However, I will test it on another PC.
