I have a server, debian lenny with samba.
I also have a usb-printer (canon pc-d340).

according to http://www.openprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Canon-pc-d340 there is no linux-driver.

I don't need to print from the linux server, but I would like to connect it to the server and share it from there to windows-clients. Is this possible and where should I start reading?

Configure cups and samba to use printer as a raw print-through device.

Thank you, you gave me hope.

I have started reading, but to continue I will have to be with server and printer (to connect them, turn the printer on), which won't happen this year.

I hope you will have good start of 2010

solved, Thank you

actually, sharing the printer succeeded pretty soon, but offering the printerdriver was problematic. I had to give a user the SePrintOperatorPrivilege and tell samba to NOT use the clientdriver.
