long time no post.... yesterday I came across a BS merchant or joker or sad individual who asked me in a professional capacity to repair his hardware and then "install the Google OS". He did want it done this year, so was sadly ill informed or misguided or just plain computer illiterate. Sorry if I sound a complete geek bigot.

Anyway, I always assume people know what they are talking about until proven otherwise and it wasn't April 1st so I went to look for it.... or rather to look for the linux distro on which it shall be based.

And the only thing I came up with was android... the pda type distro.... (what IS the name for those distros that are aimed at sub-i386 architectures?)

Anyone care to inform me one way or another as to what may or may not be the word on the ethernet about the basis for the much vaunted "Google OS"?

And as a seperate question - I wonder if android would go onto my Elonex OneT and how I would set about installing it on an i386 boxen if I had time and inclination. Which luckily I do not (well.... not the time anyway!)

It's true -- though it looks like they plan on releasing it specifically for netbooks (at first anyway):

I can't comment on installing Android on a 386 though. ;)
