Help with Shaman Package Manager

I was running shaman to download some things and I tried to play a game at the same time, apparently it was too much for my computer and it froze up. I panicked and restarted my computer. When I logged back in an error message popped up that said that another program had a lock on shaman. I'm pretty lost at what that means.

I also can't figure out how to get to the root account because my brother set it up so I couldn't log into it from the log in screen.

If someone could advise me, it would be most appreciated.

Your distro name and version info would be helpful.....plus the error message you recieved.
