Hi,

I have recently upgraded from ubuntu intrepid to ubuntu 9.04. i recently downloaded an avi movie file in 'rar' format. when i try to extract the files it shows the following

Could not find the volume: mvs-t3.r00

however the the file/volume mvs-t3.r00 exists in the rar folder.....not sure why it cannot read it during extraction....

please help...do i need to install any software or command....

thanks

Rajiv

I'm certain this would apply to Ubuntu as it does to my Debian Lenny. When looking for the 'rar' app I install both the free and the non-free rar app. I've noticed some rar files do not open up with just the free rar app.

I could probably do just as well with only the non-free app. But being the cautious type I am, I install both. There does not seem to be any conflict installing both programs. Keep in mind I'm using Debian Lenny (the best damn OS in the whole world!)

Try that. See if it helps.

Cannot find volume /home/rajiv/.cache/.fr-yws8RN/mvs-t3.r00

If you want to force a rar file to unrar when it has a bad CRC you can use the -kb (Keep Bad) switch:
unrar e -kb mvs-t3.rar
