I know this won't help but why download it via bit torrent? I've been using the netinstall CD (FTP/HTTP) for years. Doesn't take but a few mins to do.

I agree with loopback48, if you have fast internet use the net install cd the download is under 200mb. I can't see that it's any slower than a normal install unless your connection is slow.

EDIT: For what it's worth, Debian does have a type of bit-torent download called jigdo that does about the same thing, but the time it would take to set it up and running, you would already be installing Debian with the netinstall cd.

Lower on this site you'll see links for Lenny netinstall CDs. Install it and change the sources.list to squeeze. Update/dist-upgrade and you should be ready.

There have been problems with the latest Lenny install disks. Install stalls after downloading packages for install. The issue seems to be repository specific. I took me the third mirror to get a Lenny install. This problem was reported on the Debian forums by many people.

I also had trouble with the latest "testing" net install. Failure to recognize a hard disk was a major problem.

These issues were last week and all happened on my Dell laptop. They may have been fixed by now. Different hardware may also behave differently.

I ended up installing Lenny and upgraded to "testing/squeeze" as Loopback48 suggested.

"Failure to recognize a hard disk was a major problem. " I forgot about that. I too had the same problem with the Squeeze netinstall CD. Might be fixed by now but the dist-upgrade from Lenny to Squeeze worked without a problem.
