On one of my boxes, when I boot, I get the following message

Linux agpgart interface v0.99 (c) Jeff Hartmann
agpgart: Maximum main memory to use for agp memory: 94M
agpgart: Detected Intel 440BX chipset

and then nothing else happens. I cannot log in. This is on an HP omnibook 4150.

My bootloader is lilo. I have tryed booting with "Linux agp=off" with no success. Any ideas?

You don't have a commandline available? Did you just upgrade your kernel?
What video card?

It is a fresh install. The install had no issues.

No command line is available. (I can use the install disk to get to a command line.)

I do not know how to determine what my video card is.

If setting agp=off doesn't work perhaps the AGP support is available from a module. In this case you might be able to disable it by addingblacklist agpgartto /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.

I don't have physical access to the machine right now. As soon as I do, I will give it a shot and see what happens :)

The system does not have an /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist file.

I added "blacklist agpgart" to /etc/modprobe.conf, but with no success.

If it makes any difference, I am running slackware 10

I did find the specs though:
* 333MHz Mobile Pentium II
* 6.4GB hard disk and 128MB RAM
* 14.1-inch TFT display (1024*768*64K, 85Hz)
* NeoMagic MagicGraph NM2200 combined video (2.5MB) and audio chip
* CardBus (PCMCIA controller) TI PCI1220A

Looks like the machine is dead. It beeps every 3 seconds or so. That would explain the problem. Its too bad too, it has a nice screen. I was going to use it as a head for another machine...
