Two of my favorite Konqueror features are the "Go" button, and the "filter window". These features are sometimes missing in Kubuntu, and I'm wondering if there's anything I can go to get them back.

Before I installed KDE 4.1, Konqueror was missing the Go button

Now Konqueror is missing the filter window (Still appears on KDE 3.5.9)

Since both these problems occur from time to time, I thought I'd ask them both at once. Once they're gone, is there a way to get them back short of going back to Debian?

I don't have the 4.0, but what do you get when you goto configure toolbars?

Okay, down a little further is configure toolbars, at least in the 3.xx version I have. Is it there in 4.0, and if it is under location tool bar you have the option for the go button.

under location tool bar you have the option for the go button.

Ah, there is something that I didn't know-- thanks! Although I solved the problem, this will probably come up again, and that's a less invasive solution.

I think that the source of these customizations is not KDE4, it's Kubuntu, originally, I had avoided them by installing Ubuntu (the one with gnome), and then apt-get installing KDE, instead of kubuntu-desktop. Unfortunately, when I tried KDE4 (which is still not ready for this desktop user, but shows signs of eventual awesomeness.), I installed kubuntu, and kubuntu configuration files.

It was a pain, but I methodically uninstalled all traces of kubuntu, kde4, even KDE3 using synaptic, did a complete install which included configuration files-- and then I reinstalled KDE 3.5 all at once using "sudo apt-get install kde."

It was worth it. I need that filter bar. I'll bet there's an easier way though. At least I'll never have to go through all again that just to get the go button.

No matter what route is taken, the ending satisfaction is key:D

Of course, if I knew exactly what I was trying to uninstall, the scorched earth approach would not have been needed
