A security policy in place prevents this sender from sending this message to this recipient, see message bus configuration file (rejected message had interface "org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume" member "Mount" error name "(unset)" destination "org.freedesktop.Hal")

I don't know how this got set, and I don't know how to fix it. I am trying to load images from my digital camera to my OpenSuSE 10.3 desktop. I have never had a problem with this operation before and I haven't made any changes to my system and yet now I can't mount my camera to get my photos off of it. I am totally stumped.

Were you doing it as root? Normally files from a fat16 and fat32 partition should not matter. Just a guess.

I was trying under my normal user account. It works as root but not under my normal user account. Which it has since day one without a problem until last night when I tried to download some photos from my camera. The system auto-detected and gave me some options to either open in a separate window or use Digi-Kam to download.

When I try to open in a separate window I get the error, with Digi-Kam it just stops working.

Additional information: it seems that it also extends to my ability to mount or use DVD's or even CD's. This is not good.

Googling that error message (specifically, the "A security policy in place prevents this sender from sending this message to this recipient" part, without the quotes) found this as the first result:

http://www.jefferyfernandez.id.au/2007/07/26/a-security-policy-in-place-prevents-mounting-of-volumes/

which looks extremely promising. ;)
