You can then use the Network Manager, https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/WirelessNetworking to configure your device. If it's not displayed there we'll have to figure out what wireless card you've got, to make sure you're loading the correct module. Could you run the following command and post any output that looks like a network/wireless adapter.... lspci -v lspci simply lists PCI devices. If it's a USB adapter, could you use lsusb. B-rabbit 01-25-2008, 10:13 PM I am not trying to be rude here...but i think you should read this... http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html If you give us limited info to work with...you will get limited answer...or in the worst case none at all! and even you said it yourself "i know this question has been asked prolly a million times" so why don't you just take some time to search thought the forum..it's probably ths been answered a million times...this shows that you are very lazy. we need more info to help you :) ehawk 01-26-2008, 02:34 PM I am not sure I understand why you do not know the model number. Is it a pcmcia card (one you that insert)? If so, can't you examine the card and identify it? Or is it pci (built on like a video or sound card, but with an antenna sticking up)? Look at the google images below Is your computer dual booting with windows? If so, could you look at the hardware manager within windows to identify it? You could also try some other live-evaluation CDs...boot with them and see if you can look at the hardware manager to identify the card.... Simplymepis is really great for hardware recognition and configuration. When you boot it, do so with the card already installed. http://www.mepis.org/ If you take a look at google images for "belkin wireless card" http://images.google.com/images?svnum=10&um=1&hl=en&q=belkin+wireless+card&btnG=Search+Images Maybe you can even identify it that way. Hope this helps. You could also call belkin or send them email and give them a serial number or something from it, and they could tell you more about it. http://www.belkin.com/support/ justlinux.com
