as title... i wanna get into a folder directly w/o popping up a 2nd one... really annoying to me. i couldn't find a way to solve it ..
in window xp... it can be set up such that there would not pop up a 2nd window when double-clicking a folder... so i can just get directly into a subfolder...
i'm using GNOME desktop... many thanks

Sounds like you want to just descend into a directory without it opening a new window to show that window separately. Open a Gnome (Nautilus) window and go to Edit>Preferences, a new window will open called 'File Management Preferences'. Under the Behaviour tab check 'always open in browser windows'
that should make it work.
I've been frustrated by the same behaviour on OS X as well, and you have to go through the options to change it.

Open a new thread about your problems with SCIM, otherwise people may miss your question about it. Also, make sure you say exactly what problem you're having with it. Are you trying to write a program using it? Is it not working in programs you're trying to use? If so, what's not working?
