On Suse 10.2, I've installed a dge-530t (gigabit) to replace the onboard 100mbps.
I've configured it using yast and it all seems to work....except for the internet.
I can connect to my router 192.168.0.1 http interface, I can connect to my NAS with smb or cifs ( I have not tried FTP). The card performs at gigabit speeds.

It is a curiosity to me, the card works but cannot access the net.

I booted into my windowsxp partition and it works including the web. both suse and windows settings are DHCP and come up as 192.168.0.150 so I don't think it's the router.

Do I need to install the drivers that came with the disk? sk98lin that are dated june 2003?

can anyone understand why a nic would work, partially?

Try disabling the onboard ethernet or at the least keep the module for it from loading at boot.

Perfect, I used yast to "activation of old nic" = NEVER. Rebooted. Voila!

Thanks JohnT:)
