Greetings All!

My motherboard fried so I installed a new one (ga-m61p-s3). Wonderful board with enough pci slots to fit my tv tuners for this mythtv box. Connect up everything (except dvd) and all is well and I'm a happy camper except.....

The board has only one ide controller and I have my (boot) hard drive on it which has left my dvd out of the picture.

Can anyone give suggestions/recommendations to have access to dvd?

TIA

(this is Debian Lenny on 2.6.21 if that helps)

You can always buy an expansion card with an additional IDE controller.

An onboard IDE controller is capable of serving a master and a slave so two IDE devices are possible.

If the ribbon cable does not have 3 plugs one can purchase one easily. A 80-wire cable is needed to give 133 ATA speed although CD/DVD drives are still running at 33ATA.

New generation of mobo has a lot of Sata connections and there are now new CD/DVD drives designed for Sata connections too.
