Sorry for the double post, but I need some information on YellowDog Linux setup and Terrasoft doesn't want to respond to my emails.

Here is the rig:

B&W Rev 2
300mhz
512mb ram
8mb ati rage video card, adapter to 15pin pc monitor, 17"

I did a fresh install of osx, partitioning the harddrive as Terrasoft suggests.
Then I go to boot from the YellowDog 5 cd. It boots, but the initial text screen is kind of garbled.
I hit enter to continue, it flashes another screen and then the screen just goes completely out of my monitors frequency range.
I have also tried YDL 4, Gentoo, and Ubuntu 6.06. All with the same result.
I tried the text install in YDL 5, YDL 4, and Gentoo. Instead of going out of frequency range, they instead have a nasty looking screen, imagine a gallon of paint splashed on the wall and you get the idea.

In Ubuntu I can make out something about trying "live video=ofonly". I try this, and it seems to work. The Ubuntu loader screen comes up, ond then once it loads...BAM. Out of frequency range.

I kicked my buddy off his computer for a minute to try with his monitor, which is big by huge and handles some mega ****load resolution. His graphics card on his peecee is capable of some 2580x1??? res, and the monitor takes it like a champ.
I hook up to his monitor and try YDL 5 again. This time the initial screen is not garbled and cluttered, it is as it is supposed to be. I try a normal install. I get the flash of another screen, then his monitor too goes out of frequency range. WTF????

I wasn't able to try anything else cause he wanted to get back to Dawn of War.

Does anybody know if YDL 5 has some INSANE graphics requirements??

I'm gonna try his monitor and see if I can get Gentoo or Ubuntu to go through, or maybe even YDL 4. All I know is I want Linux on my MAC, and I don't wanna install OS9 and dual boot between that and YDL 3.

Someone help me out.

As you said, this is a double post. Double-posting is not a good idea. If you can choose the single most appropriate forum for your question, that's usually a better idea than putting the question in multiple places. Thanks!
