Hi ppl,

I've a 80 GB hdc running my linux, the partition are like
79.xx GB of hdc1 and 666MB of Swap partition.....

Now i need to create/resize the partition, so that i've
atleast 10 GB of partition for another minimal linux.

For which iam using the parted utility in ubuntu server ed 7.04
but when i try doing resize, it fails and says
"device is busy" , when i try to umount it for resizing.

Will i need to reinstall the Ubuntu for remaking my partitions ?
or is there a better way, pls guide using parted preferably....

fdisk and cfdisk guidance will also do :)

Are you tring to resize the harddrive while booted to it? If that's the case then yes you would get that output. Use a live-cd like knoppix or the ubuntu install cd is a live-cd, boot to it and then resize the drive, (Make sure you backup anything you can't live without just incase.)
