Hi

Planning to setup a WIFI Hotspot. Can anyone recommend any nice Hotspot Servers, with authentication of course :D

actually i hav set my eyes on Wifidog (http://dev.wifidog.org/) i jus lov the logo but since the identification server is still wip so :(

after some googling i found something call zonecd (http://www.publicip.net/zonecd/how.php) but it is a live cd :( , i would prefer something that i can install, more control hehehe ... troublesome fella right :p

We use NoCatAuth at work, but I should note that it doesn't seem to be under active development anymore. We also had to make some changes to it to get it to work right in our environment; if you use it, make sure you know (or can learn) Perl. :)

(The reason we went with it rather than some of the programs that were being maintained was that it supported putting all its rules in a separate iptables chain. We use a box that has five or six virtual NICs (on different VLANs) for the server portion, with NoCatAuth only being used between one of them and the outgoing NIC. We didn't want it to be messing with the forwarding rules for the other VLANs.)
