Installing Kubuntu 7.04

I am very new to using Linux. I downloaded Kubuntu 7.04 from the internet, and was told by a classmate to burn it to a cd and then install it onto my computer. I burned it to the cd but it won't do anything when I open the file on the cd. Is there a specific way I need to do it, or how do I install it onto my computer?

if you only see somefile.iso when you browse the cd, then you need to burn it again as a "disk image" or "bootable iso". when you browse one of those you'll see a bunch of files...
after that, put the cd in your cdrom and reboot the computer. boot from the cdrom and follow the instructions.
