I just wanted to spread the word about this:

http://www.ocwconsortium.org/index.html

"An OpenCourseWare is a free and open digital publication of high quality educational materials, organized as courses."

Basically, MIT has put every course they offer online for the world to use/learn from, etc...for free.

You get no degree from it, but offering it to the public is cool.

They are also not the only ones who are doing this http://www.ocwconsortium.org/about/members.shtml

I have no affiliation with these people, but thought it was good enough to share.

Thank you for sharing this link, it definitely is cool.

Once the web was thought to be the source of education for everybody, but it often isn't because

a) people are lazy and
b) copyright restrictions prevent people from publishing educational materials.

In my eyes, every course at every university should be shared openly with the entire world. Well, maybe not necessarily the ones on bio, atomic and chemical warfare. ;)

I'm very glad these sort of initiatives are being solidified in practice, quite a contrast to the appalling news about the removal of free education for children (http://news.com.com/2100-1038_3-6167894.html) because of demands from profit-focused corporations.
