i am trying to install everything and i have the iso but i think somethings wrong :( (i.e. the kboot saying /dev/sr0:/ppc/ppc64/vmlinux-ps3: not found) any ideas how to fix this?
any help would be appreciated
a guess: your iso's might be bad (which means you might have to download them again)
but in order for us to help you, we need more information.
let's start with:
what kind of machine are you putting this onto?
what type of iso's are you using?
how do you encounter the problem?

i found the problem, apparently the first iso was burt to the disk as an iso (instead of installing the iso contents to the disk, thats fixed, but now i have linux on my ps3 and if i try to run DISPLAY it says "unable to open x server" any ideas? i need to configure my display before i can run enlightenment (i hope it can run on 480i, if not i think i will have to wait until next year to use the gui when i can buy a HDTV)
BTW i am logged in as root (i dont have a user account and i cant edit the passwd file, access denied even though i am logged in as root)

Hey how do you just install the ISO to the disk instead of just burning them to the disk. I have the same error and can not figure out how to install it to the disk. When I load it, it asks me to burn (record) them to the disk. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey how do you just install the ISO to the disk instead of just burning them to the disk.
You need to burn an .iso image, what ever burning program you are using, select Burn CD image. then pick the iso you are wanting to burn.

Check out this (http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/support/installation/ydl5.0_ps3_guide.pdf) link. I haven't installed YDL yet, as 5.0 is only available for people who purchase the DVDs for $40-$70 which I'm simply not going to do. I have had success installing Fedora Core 5 on my PS3, and am now trying to install the PPC build of Debian on it now. They are supposedly going to release the ISO's for free download on the 11th. Once they do I can post back my experience(I'm having fun seeing how many distros/OS's I can manage to install).

Unfortunately, I had the PS3 hardwired during my experiments. Also, as soon as I got Fedora to completely work, I formatted the drive and tried to play with Debian. If I get the urge to go back to Fedora I'll try out the WiFi. I do remember there being a WiFi setup option under networking within the Fedora setup - I just ignored it.

i have the same problem.
i dont have a 720p monitor so i installed ydl 5.0 through install text.
the installation was successful and everything was good so far until i came to firstboot, in whish my guide tells me that shoulve walked me through licence and user agreement, date and time and finally "USER INFO AND PASSWORD"
i nver saw it, instead the boot sequence ran through and lead me to local host login. i ask my self WHAT LOGIN? i nver had the chance to dreate anything.
a guy told me to enter root. but how do you get in? help anyone?

i also have an optoma h31 projector which is only 480p, should this scale down ydl 5.0s 720p to its own standards?
im already stressing over this, is my ydl 5.0 faulty? i remember noticing that when i boot ydl through text. it shows me a check up of number of packages that are being automatically activated during boot sequence.
noticing that SYSTEM LOGGER says that its "FAILED" and the rest says "OK". if anyone has answers or suggestions. please..
