Hi folks,
Ubuntu-6.06.1-LAMP-server-amd64
On adding HP printer, encountered problem on;
Starting with "//localhose:63/admin --> Enter username and password for "CUPS" at http://localhost:631
Tried root/"root password" and /satimis/"satimis password". Both did not work.
Please help. TIA

You are going to have to add the user root to the admin group for cups so as root you must do the following (man it, I might be wrong on the switches) lppasswd -a -g sys root (if you want to make root the admin for cups)
and then enter the password you want to use, then restart cups, and you shold be able to login as root to manage cups

Hi leonpmu,
Tks for your advice.
Sorry I forgot mentioning this is a network printer.
Starting with "//localhose:63/admin --> Device for HP_Printer (Device:AppSocket/HP JetDirect) --> Device URI for HP_Printer (socket://hostname) --> Enter username and password for "CUPS" at http://localhost:631
$ cat /etc/cups/cupsd.conf

I need to have the printer setup locally, not remotely
