i have a cisco switch, and a laptop with eth and wireless capability but i wanna take the wireless connection and use my laptop to turn it into a eth cord then somehow plug that into my cisco switch and serve other computers in my house. How can i do that through my laptop?

Well for what i understood, if you have a wireless router, and you want to share internet for the people in the house, why don't the get an wireless card?

If you want to use the eth card to share all you have to do is forward the packets, not sure if that works the same way on wireless like on eth networks

so in other words you are stealing your neighbors wireless and want to setup a network based on it?

if so, dont get caught but basically you need to setup multicasting and either NAT to the wired segment or since the cisco is going to be doing the real routing you should probably just bridge to two nics together

either way fairly advanced routing topics but since you are a cisco user im sure you already know how to over complicate it :p

heh, was just a hunch ;) but anywho yea basically you want to setup a transparent bridge between wlan0 and eth0 or whatever

oh and tell your neighbor, and maybe chip in a few bucks a month eh
most neighbors have no problem with sharing especially if you offer to chip your fair share
