Greetings everybody,
I am trying to find a distro of Linux that will install from my iBook G4 onto a LaCie 250 GB external HD and boot from there. I was looking at Ubuntu as I am a noob and it seemed the most newbie friendly, but apparently there is lots of fiddling that would need to be done to make it get past the Yaboot stage of the install without kernel panic problems stopping the install. Then I read that YDL supported external install/boot. Is this true? I am looking for recommendations on what distro would best suit my needs. I depend on my Mac for my day-to-day survival, so I don't want to install Linux on what is left of the 30 GB internal drive. Therefore I am seeking an external dual boot alternative.
EDIT: I hope that because I stuck this in the wrong forum that it won't be missed or ignored. I was tired when I posted and stuck it in "installation" instead of the Linux PPC forum. OOPS. I have read the "before you post guidelines" and will make every effort to adhere to them.
TIA for any insights and advice.
KC
