I'm trying to set up wireless internet on Yellowdog 4.1- I can see in the network control panel that it recognizes the airport card, but it still won't connect. I've tried to use yellowdog documentation, but it does not cover this area. I don't even know where to start! Thanks for any help!

have you had a look at the YDL forums http://www.yellowdog-board.com/viewtopic.php?t=1112&highlight=airport+setup
what does the ifconfig -a command show? does it show the airport card along with your other network connections?

you didnt mention your hw or if it was an airport extreme card. if its an orig. airport card im gonna guess your trying to connect to an encrypted network, just set the ssid and key on the panel and itll connect (system-config-network AFAIK)
<edit> saw in your other post its a ibook clamshell (300mhz) and that would be orig airport card) </edit>
Also as im not running 4.1 on my clamshell se cant be sure (just 3.x) i found that the system handled the card better if you deleted the devices and profiles out of the system-config-network gui and then remade them (fixed a lot of errors in 3.x)

Yes, it's the clamshell with the original airport card. I'm actuallly connected now, after (A LOT) of playing around. I did need to remove the devices and remake them, and had to remove the encryption (don't really want to) from the router. So, that's my next step- can I put the encryption back on? for a WEP key, it says to add a "0x" or something like that- how can I make that work? Thanks everyone for all your help!

yes if the passkey is in hex then you need to ad "0x" infront of it (say 0xPASSKEYHERE) as for the type of encryption what was it wep or wpa (ive never been able to get the latter to work right under linux)
