Last night I was getting sick of Yast, and ZYPP. Everyone I've talked with said I should just use Smart with my SuSE 10.1 box, so last night I did.

Holy crap, what have I been doing!? This is amazing! Not only did it port over all my repositories, like Packman, and SuSE Guru, it also checks all the SuSE Update servers!

Why doesn't Novell dump ZYPP, and just use Smart? Clean it up, improve the interface, and make lots of extra apps for it, like a better system tray updater.

Is there a distribution that uses Smart as it's central package manger?

I have been using smart since suse 10.1 came out with its package management problems and just love howe it updates packages from all mirors not just the suse ones. And the smart package from guru comes with all the mirrors set up and its fast and i love it. :)

I too have to give Smart a big thumbs up. Used it with OpenSuse 10.1 since YAST was so messed up. Worked like a charm. I too wondered why Novel doesn't implement it as their stanard system updater. Make it official.
