Im looking for a few apps hopefully someone here can point me to some good ones.
1. An app for managing money; nothing too comples, just for basic finances - balance sheet and stuff.
2. An app to monitor weight gain, calorie intake et cetera.
Cheers.

Some kind of spreadsheet application would do both. Try out OpenOffice Calcm gnumeric or koffice - all are very good.

For finances:
homebank (http://www.gnomefiles.org/app.php?soft_id=1424)
gnucash (http://www.gnomefiles.org/app.php?soft_id=181)
MyBudget (http://www.gnomefiles.org/app.php?soft_id=43)
For diet:
Shrinking Man (http://debain.org/software/shrinkingman/)
I use Kmymoney2 and like it a lot. I've also used gnucash, but didn't really use most of the features.

I'm using both KMyMoney2 and GnuCash for separate finances. If you want something "nothing too comples, just for basic finances" then I would recommend against GnuCash. GnuCash seems more powerful than you need. I use KMyMoney for my simpler personal finances.

Well KMyMoney sounds like the right thing for me.
I just want to be able to input my income and expenditures and get a balance-- stuff like that.
