When all is said and done, this is why I use Linux:

Personally, I think msft's explanation is a load of crap. They've been talking for years about remotely disabling any OS they determine to be pirated.

This sounds like a precursor to that very move.

In the end, it's not relevant to my life...I've never used msft for my computing needs.

They also forgot to mention that the software is very much Beta (like all MS software) and even flags genuine copies :o Although I shouldn't be too surprised....

Oh yeah I forgot, they reckon "users who opted to install it". Windows enables automatic updates by default, remote regisrty manipulation by default, and remote assistance by default Which makes me wonder how many people really expected that thing to be installed???

Even with automatic updates, the user has to explicitly agree to a EULA. That's how I found out about this: my dad's Windows XP computer was running automatic updates and a box popped up that said "MICROSOFT PRE-RELEASE SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT". I declined the EULA and told it never to install that update. Trying to root out unlicensed copies of their software is one thing, and it's certainly within Microsoft's right to do so, but pushing out unstable beta software to users' computers? F**k that s**t!

LOL!! I reallly enjoy the last option in that popup...

Well according to one of my mates that got caught out, he reckons thzt there was no warning regarding this tool...

It is also quite a pita to remove from the system too...
