Just what we need to exponentially increase the size of the database ---- telepathy!

I think fortune reading will make it dual-dimensionally expoentially increasing

Then adding phopecies will make it infinitely big in 2 dimensions.

GREAT!

Pie! I especially like Chocolate Cream Pie. Mmmm, Mmmm, good.

Speaking of pies, how about pytables (http://www.pytables.org/moin)
"Most of the I/O operations speed should be only limited by the underlying I/O subsystem."
See how cleverly I got the thread back on track, made a pun, AND increased my database entries by one third?

Edit: Speaking of telepathic databases, I'll bet the Betazoids (from Stardate 4153.77 on the "Encounter ar Farpoint" episode) have plenty of them,

"Betazoids hail from the Federation member planet Betazed. A peaceful race that have developed highly telepathic abilities, the Betazoid people appreciate fine arts, literature, and philosophy. As all Betazoids are telepathic, they usually do not need to vocalize their thoughts to one another in order to communicate, but can do so for the benefit of offworlders. It is a natural ability, and likewise the strength of the skill varies from one to another. Most develop the ability in adolescence, but a few have congenitally active telepathic abilities that may cause severe mental problems due to their inability to screen out other peoples minds. Screening is a skill that is absolutely necessary for the well-being of a Betazoid, particularly for those with keen telepathic sensory skills."
Myself, I do have ESPN on the cable, but it doesn't tell me who will win the game.

Well, according to quantum mechanics and advanced physics, if something is really fast, it may distort time, which means it is actually being used yesterday, and will definintely come tomorrow, but may not take place today.

JamminJoeyB
06-02-2006, 03:31 PM
Speaking of thirds, at the rate this thread is gaining database entries it will make it to the Hot topics area on the main page by 5pm est.

My database has no connections, not needed, the write is complete before you try to write it, and since the data exists before the need to write it, no need for a connection. Unfortunatly, the data is always presented before you need it, forcing me to remove the read connections, way too frustrating.

I can build a mysql db thats faster than any other...I just need a supercomputer or a lite driven computer, I think the speed of light is a little more than 10x faster...But then again ********s are supposed to move as fast as light so I guess that theory if useing light would only give me less heat, as long as the light is low intensity to when it interacts with some mass-ive object, very little heat is radiated...Or maybe he just striped a bunch of scsi drives and uses a system which writes multiple lines of the disk at once.......Ok I'd better shut up before I get too off topic, if their really was one.

Yes, indeed. In the "good ol' days" there was always one or two threads in /dev/random where people were joking around and the mods had their pun contest. When hard candy stopped modding for a while this slowly died and modding meant just to lock true spam threads and tell first posters to write proper titles. I'm glad the jokes are back. :)

What IS a database?
1. Where Data goes to recharge when Captain Picard does not need his services anymore?
2. A collection of data arranged for ease and speed of search and retrieval?
3. All the facts and rules comprising a logic programming program?

And since I have all my family's addresses and telephone numbers in an addressbook, would that be considered a relational database?

When hard candy stopped modding for a while this slowly died and modding meant just to lock true spam threads and tell first posters to write proper titles. I'm glad the jokes are back. :) Well, in the good old old days, when this was still linuxnewbie, there was more going on than that... I remember heated arguments running rampant in the "Shoot the Breeze: Rants" forum, and very very off-topic stuff (like the "Topic: No Topic" thread, whose first post was just "Brought to you by the Department of Redundancy Department" and degenerated from there (:p), and similar "let's see how many posts we can get into one thread before UBB breaks!" threads that kept eating mdwatts's accounts) that was going on in the "General: Off Topic" forum. And who could forget the Big Red Button? Even though that got fixed (I think anyway) in later versions of UBB.

(Thankfully, vBulletin is a lot more stable than UBB was. Or maybe when the server's a cluster of machines instead of just one, it breaks much less often; that might be it too. I don't know what kind of hardware the forum ran on, or what kind it runs on now.)

Adding 1,000,000 records with a record size of: 100 bytes, 3 fields, 1 sorted

I created a wormhole which actually allows for time travle because it sends you so to the other side so fast you actually travel back in time. This is useing the unified field theory that einstein forgot to finish (I have finished it!). Oh and useing tesla's flying discs I was able to produce a device to transport matter through the worm whole safely. Of course its not a stargate yet, but I'm working in it.

BTW the systems all run Linux and have a DB (which is 10^1000 * faster than mysql) which contains all the possible locations of arrivle based off time of day, location on earth, position of the known stars and their satilites (based off of the center of the milkyway as it is the power source), and the amount of power required to get there. Oh and it stores the locations of all the employees.

In fact I am just reading this and wondering why I would write such a thing because I never actually wrote it yet so now I will think about getting a mod to get me the ip so I can track it down...
