Hello,
I am taking the RHCE exam this Friday. Can anyone give me the scoop on what to expect? A few exam details would be great!
Thanks.

Just to scare you:
From what I can remember, the folks at RedHat said that 65% or 70% of the people taking the exam don't pass it on their first try (I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure about that, I just can't remember the exact number) and I can see why. There's no faking it, either you know it or you don't.
Taking the RHCE exam journal (http://www.governmentsecurity.org/archive/t8513.html) note the date on that is 2004.
I am a RHCE blog (http://guy.netguru.co.il/archives/9-I-am-RHCE.html) 2005

Good luck! I was going to do it, but unfortunately, 9 other people pulled out of the exam so it was cancelled... but I have the study book, it it not easy! So expect the worst... put it this way, it is not as easy as an MCSE...

I have taken the lesser of the evils and became a RHCT.
The format of the test I found to be fair and a better measure of one's skills than a true/false & multiple choice test.
I recommend you live and breath RH weeks prior to the tests.
Also remember and get extremely familiar with man and info and /usr/share/doc as they are availible during the test (post installation of course).
I found the RHCT test to be "easy", which of course is very relative to the level that you know the material. At least 2 people walked out within the first of four hours of the test, never to be seen again.
I *think* I am taking the RH300 class and test in a few weeks...if you're still not done, I'll post what I can about it (having signed a non-disclosure agreement).
Good luck whenever you get to it.

Thanks for the replies! I agree that living and breathing RH for the week prior would be a great help! I am in the RHCE course right now. My best dsecription is that it's like drinking from a fire hose. It's non-stop! Lab times are cut short. Lunches are cut short. I see the time spent in the classroom during the day is the review and when I get home, it's learning and study time. Good luck to anyone that takes it!

I am RHCE, I also happen to be a Red Hat instructor / examiner, so I've seen the exam from both sides.
The exam is a true test of your ability. Either you know your stuff or you don't, there are no shortcuts.
If you have the time and money, take the RH300 class, day 5 of the class is the RHCE exam. That is an excellent prep for the exam.
As someone already said, eat, sleep, drink Red Hat to get ready.
Good Luck !
